Yep, just email support@ or sales@
I'm sure Brent would appreciate it if you asked sales instead, but he'll never turn away a ticket... just put attention brent in the subject... |

Forgot to quote and comment on this, so I'll take this opportunity that I got now. I am extremely enthusiastic. I can't wait to get things going and to put all of this planning and organisation into practice. My hosting service will be called The Freezing (slogan is: Subzero hosting services), to those that don't like looking at signatures. Domain was bought a little while ago when I attempted at making a hosting service; however things went wrong and I learned from it. We didn't make any business in the three months that it was up and running. But like I said, we all learn from our mistakes and experiences and can only do better in the future; I feel that this is the time.
It will take time, dedication, experience, patience, a will to learn as well as many other things, but all in all I am willing to take it on. No problem at all kmaw, thanks a lot. I will be sending an email soon then. ![]() Is there any particular time period that Brent will reply within?

It'll get done as soon as he can, is about the only guess I would hazard....

I have GREAT news, well at least for the staff here... I went to the bank just a little over an hour ago and have setup my bank account. I have made an extra account specifically for the internet and paying for everything online so that I don't get stuffed around if the unthinkable happens...
As soon as my card arrives, I will be purchasing the Aluminium reseller package and putting all my plans into practice. I hope that everything goes well with HostGator and I really do look forward being your customer. Until then, I will be posting in this topic just gaining that extra bit of experience and knowledge to make sure everything (on my side) goes well. Thanks to everyone so far, please keep it up!

Just a quick question, sorry for the double post. Does HostGator offer free billing software for paid for packages if I was to offer them on my reseller? If not, where can I find some good yet free billing software?
I think I have read this somewhere, but can't quite pinpoint where; do I get my own offered disk space and bandwidth for my hosting website, forum, etc, or will I have to dedicate some of the disk space and bandwidth that comes with the reseller to my hosting website?

Oh, so HostGator already includes professional billing software along with your account for free? Is there a place where I can preview a demo of this particular software?
My other question still stands for whoever knows the answer.

One more thing; does the reseller package come with a free support ticket system? If so, am I able to view a demo beforehand like the billing software above?

The billing software WHMCS has support ticket functionality built in.

I'm not sure that someone who did this would have time left to post here.
I'm pretty sure his/her co-workers would flee at his/her approach, risking rudeness to avoid seeing the 10,084th cat picture. Visitors to that site would probably start tuning out around the 300th or 400th high resolution picture.

I anticpate most of my customers will have simple 3 to 5 page websites with a vast majority not having any large media files etc. In this situation how do I figure out what my typical customer will require in disk space? Can I allocate in units of less than 1GB? Thank you for your time and replies! ![]() Rick |

You can allocate whatever space you want. You could allot 200 megs, 50 megs, 2 gigs, etc.

WHMCS sounds fantastic if it is both billing software as well as a support ticket system... I have some close friends who will be staff members on my forum and they are completely capable of coding their own support ticket system as well, but I will let them know about WHMCS the next time I speak to them.
Thanks for that Goddess Dix, thought no-one would answer it. So I've got to dedicate some of the total space for me... How much do you recommend I take up (disk space and bandwidth) for a new reseller? The discussion is EXTREMELY helpful Rick67. It has taught me a lot and I expect HostGator to teach me many more things once I become a customer. It has been 2-3 business days so far so my bank card should be arriving any time soon.

We can't possibly advise what to set aside; you are the only one that can estimate your usage. The worst thing that can happen is that your hosting becomes so popular that you run out of space and need to upgrade...

That is why I asked the questions. Oh well, maybe someone who currently owns a reseller (no matter how long ago) is able to give me a rough estimate... I would hate for everything to be rolling smoothly and then login one day to find that my main hosting website/forum is down due to reaching the limit. Is there a way of adding disk space and bandwidth AFTER your account has been suspended due to reaching the limit? Would I still be able to access WHM?

You can monitor the disk space and bandwidth usage inside your WHM. If you see you are getting low on either you can add before getting suspended.

Yes, you can adjust both bandwidth and disks pace on the fly without changing all the packages or changing your host package. When we were a reseller we created our hosting package that was only for us. Since you aren't allowed to oversell and space was scarce, we chose to make it small as for disk space and bandwidth while creating everything else unlimited.

Oh ok, I knew that already GvilleRick; I just wanted to know whether you could access WHM after you get suspended and increase your disk space and bandwidth, but it seems like you cannot.
Thanks for that gtgeorge, once again. I will keep it in mind when creating my website and forum. I'll be sure to make everything unlimited apart from disk space and bandwidth. I have decided to keep aside 1 GB disk space and 10 GB bandwidth for the time-being and see how we go once we open up.

![]() I have just used the Live Chat and spoken to both Greg H and Justin; I must say that I've never seen anyone be as helpful as they are. I am sure nearly all of the staff here at HostGator are the same, but they are the two people that helped me out within a couple of minutes with answers to my questions. I must say that I continue to be surprised at the support offered here; keep it up guys and girls! You will see me as a customer within the next day or two (possibly Sunday as well)!

And you would think it would have been nabbed by now as I reported it very early this AM.
