Very true in regards to the 'Customer Reviews' forum, however I wanted to post in someone's topic, not create a topic for my own.

How many forums can a member with full privileges view? This is what I can see:

HostGator Announcements
- General Announcements
- Network Status

Public Forums
- Pre-Sales Questions
- Customer Reviews
- Suggestions

Are there any more then the ones above (words in bold are categories)?

Oh, nobody but the original poster and HG staff are allowed to respond directly in the reviews category.

There are about eight additional categories--usually "Hatchling" forum status means full viewing privileges, and it's not tied into any hosting account.

Oh ok, didn't know that...

That's good to hear; I didn't want this to be the forum and that's it! Well I am indeed a 'Hatchling Croc', however I am not a full member as I haven't purchased a hosting/reseller package from HostGator yet... It looks as if they have made people who don't have hosting limited then.

I've been a Hatchling Croc for a little while now... Ever since I was activated I think...

Is anyone else able to give me some information in regards to reseller hosting as that is the package I will be purchasing first? Things like how you organise the administrative side of things, tips and tricks, whether it is good starting from the Aluminium package and upgrading, etc. Anything I am able to get from the community is greatly appreciated and I will keep it in mind when I buy it.

One of the most valuable links will be http://support.hostgator.com/index.p...=58&nav=0,75,8 to get started and if the info isn't sent WHMCS is the best billing system you can get for free
http://whmcs.com/hostgator
And more reseller info: http://support.hostgator.com/index.p...id=75&nav=0,75

Brilliant.

Thanks very much gtgeorge; you are a great help. That will be one of the more prized URL's that I will use when I get the reseller. It will help me as I go along in the future, as well as provide me with the necessary information whenever I encounter any problems. Step-by-step methods and important information that I shouldn't ignore; I know the basics but those links certainly give me the upper hand when things start getting that touch more technical.

Much appreciated. The URL's have been noted down.

You'll have much more information like that from the reseller forum area as well. There have been hundreds of threads on how to best set things up.

I can't wait until I am able to access it slapshotw. Will that particular forum contain information and/or tips on how to set up things, or is it just ways of going about your business?

seems you are already activated, you should be able to access
reseller forum and others . if not you can ask forum admin to look into this, or try to re-login after clearing your browser cookies.

I am activated, however due to the fact I am not a customer yet is probably the reason why I cannot view all of the forums on this support forum.

When I click that link, I get the following message:

Quote:
Gary, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
  1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
  2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.
I have already tried clearing my browser's cookies. Still no luck. I really do think it's because of the reason I stated above though...

Both. There are many interesting posts about the business and technical challenges and issues (and successes) facing resellers.

I thought so ghpk.

Sounds good then, I can't wait until I am able to view it then! Just a comment in regards to my account now; I am 'Awaiting Activation' once again because I changed my email address. I am now using the email address used for everything to do with my hosting service (such as registrations and all that stuff). When will I be activated again?

More posts in regards to reseller hosting here at HostGator will be greatly appreciated as well. Thanks everyone who has posted so far.

I would recommend making your hostgator support and billing email address one that's *NOT* hosted with hostgator. This way, if you're having a problem with your account, technical, billing, or otherwise, a disruption of service will not leave you unable to communicate with them.

Oh, of course not. If HostGator doesn't work neither will my email accounts... I am using my site name's Gmail account... If that makes sense.

I sure do hope so kmaw!

I hope that this isn't the end of all of this discussion. I am really gaining A LOT of confidence in HostGator and its community. I feel extremely happy that I was welcomed and that I wasn't treated differently because I am new. I am surprised no-one has commented on me not even being a customer yet; but as they say, it's always good to do your shopping around before making a purchase.

Back on topic; please give me everything you can. My ears are wide open and the only thing stopping me from purchasing the Aluminium reseller package is the bank issue (should be fixed tomorrow or the day after).

Plenty of discussion going on here, yeah. I'm sure you'll enjoy the full forum access when you get it and learn lots. I know I have learned a lot from the helpful folks around here.

Regarding the reseller stuff, while I certainly appreciate your enthusiasm, just "tell me more" is a bit open-ended for folks to respond with helpful info. If there are specific areas you're wondering about, that's easier to address.

Or perhaps, since you have purchased your account and were activated awaiting reactivation, you could pm one of the HG staff and ask for full forum access, since you're clearly chomping at the bit...either way, you'll get there.

Some former HG customers that went directly to The Planet for their servers are still around here because they liked the forum so much.

Very true Goddess Dix. Well at the moment I have to go to TAFE; but when I return I will have some questions which will give everyone the ability to answer directly rather then offering discussion that is too broad like I initially asked. I will most probably end up learning everything from HostGator. I have just remembered one question actually; how long has HostGator been in business? And are they resellers of The Planet?

I haven't purchased any hosting packages, therefore I am not particularly a customer yet. I was just awaiting activation again because I had changed emails. When you say 'chomping at the bit', do you mean that in the way that I am active and posting?

I usually try to organise my posts to answer each persons post as a separate paragraph, but this time I mixed it in. Sorry if there is any confusion.

Thanks for the link. Gives all the server specs as well. Nice work...

Am I able to write a support ticket even though I am not a customer yet? There are some things that only the owner (Brent) is able to answer.
