Default Potential customer help questions

Hi Guys I’m looking for a new web host for my sites. So I thought I would join the forum to ask some of the users some questions to help make my decision.

Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I Have gone through about 3 web hosts and want a reliable good host to end the year and start the new .

I have been comparing about 10 different Host judging them on various criteria etc.
Most of the questions I wanted to find are on the site but I wanted to find out from a users perspective

What’s the customer service really like? Is it speedy and helpful?

How Knowledgeable are the staff when dealing with minor to major problems?

Do admin contact you when a problem may arise or are you just left to find out?

What’s the downtime on average a month?

Any problems with receiving and sending mail?

If the site goes over the space will I be notified or will the site just be taken down?

Thanks very much !!

Regards FC

For the few times I have needed to submit support tickets or to use live chat support, HG techs have always been able to assist quickly.

There are various levels of techs with varying knowledge. You will find the support here very good.

How would they know a problem is about to arise?

Since March, no downtime.

No, never.

Assuming you will be signing up for a shared plan, the disk space and bandwidth are not limited. However, if your site(s) break the TOS in some other way, like hogging to much cpu, then typically the site is suspended immediately so as not to cause others on your shared server grief.

Thanks very much for your feedback striddy i appreciate your time .I'm sure you overstand the drama that can arise when running a site so covering all bases beforehand puts me in a better position.

Well i have been with a few host in my time and many times a week or daily they will make back ups , re configure or run maintenance on servers etc which can disrupt mail , web sites.

Some web host let users know when these processes may be taking place which allows us to notify our staff and clients some dont they just let you find out your site is down.

Thanks again for your time

regards fc

My pleasure. Yes downtime whether due to a problem or maintenance isn't good. Speaking only from my own experience here at HG, it has not been a problem.

Recently reseller servers had some major software upgrades but I was notified by email a week prior, and the maintenance window only lasted an hour and a half. Anyone using any computer whether a server or pc, will appreciate updates do need to occur. As long as HG tells me about it, then I'm happy for it to be done.

I've been through approximately a dozen or so webhosts in the last several years and have seen it ALL. HG has been my best experience by far. While some of the techs are better than others, in general support is knowledable and helpful. response time has varied in the time i've been here, but overall, not bad.

in particular, HG seems much more open and honest in communicating with it's customers than many companies and it's clear the company tries to treat their clients right. they also acknowledge and apologize for mistakes.

and while i'm now on dedicated, i never experienced downtime on my shared. i mean, i'm sure there is some-ever host has it- but definitely the exception rather than the rule.

good luck with your decision.
