Default Is it possible to implement my idea to block attacks??

Everyday i am receiving lot of Attacks on my VPS. Most of them are from China ! The worst part is i am receiving few attacks everyday from some servers located with The Planet too.

So i got an idea to minimize it and want to know whether is it possible to setup or not.

My idea is, to configure the server as the WHM, SSH for the root user can be logged into the server only from the allowed IP Range.

So that we can minimize the attack even if the attacker knows the exact password of Root or if got a SSH Key file with him.

Is this possible to configure the server in this way ???

Hello,

You could pretty easily limit the WHM and SSH ports in the firewall to only be accessible from an IP range, however this wouldn't apply to just the root account.

You'd also want to make sure to get our IP address and configure this in as well so we have access to your server in the event you assistance in the future.

We can assist you with this if need be. Just make a ticket with support.

Fine.. So i think this will be enough as the clients on the VPS will access only the cPanel and not WHM until they need SSH access too.

But it will be good if we can put this limitation only to the root account...

Hello,

I'm not personally aware of a way to do this in WHM, but I suppose it could be possible.

If you'd like to have the SSH protections setup I would definitely recommend making a ticket with support to get this configured for you.
