Unhappy What is the point of offering VOIPo if number expires every 30 days?

What is the point of offering VOIPo free with business account, if it needs to be called at least once every 30 days in order to keep it active?

I have been having this "free" feature for over a year now and I can't use it because the requirement to call it at least once every 30 days is impractical for a business in its pre-sales stage.

I would love to start using this VOIPo offering bundled with my Business plan, but due to the unreasonable "strings attached" I am sticking with phone.com for now.

Unless this once-every-30-days call requirement is removed, I would recommend going with the Baby plan. There really is no need to pay extra for the Business plan.

Hello,

I understand your concerns and I will definitely see what can be done about providing the VOIPO # for longer than a month. I want to assure you there are no strings attached and the Toll Free # is to benefit the users that would like to take advantage of it. The Business Pan also comes with an SSL and a dedicated IP, which secures payments transactions online. I believe all of these extra features are very beneficial for a business owner and a Business plan is highly recommended if you need to take advantage of any of them.

I appreciate you bringing this to our attention and as stated above I will do what I can to make improve this feature. Please let me know if you have any other concerns, comments or questions.

Hi There,

The ceo of voipo sent me this.......

"All they need to do is have a call to their number once every 30 days.

Any call works. They can call it or someone else can call it.
Basically as long as it has "activity". So dialing their number,
letting it answer then hanging up would even be fine.

If they don't have at least 1 call in a 30 day period we e-mail a
warning then if another 30 we'll remove it for inactivity so we can
use it for someone else. They could always get a new one in the
future.
"

I'd love if you could explain further about the trouble this is causing so that I could understand the best way to fix this for you. Calling it shouldn't take more then 30 seconds a month. The amount of time your post took would be equivalent of at least a year of calls.

Please let me know. thanks!

The above quote is not mentioned in your free bundled VOIPo description:
Quote:
Toll-Free numbers issued must be called at least once every 30 days. Toll-free numbers with 0 calls in a 30 day period will be considered inactive and disconnected. If you cancel your hosting package with HostGator or switch to a plan other than the business plan, your toll-free number will be disconnected unless you contact VOIPo to change to a paid service plan prior to the HostGator cancellation.

What if I want to reactivate my phone number after it has been cut off?
Unfortunately, once the phone number is disconnected, you cannot have it back. Please contact billing@voipo.com, and VOIPo will re-verify your eligibility and issue a NEW number.
Having the phone number change due to an unusual situation or just forgetting to call this number once every 30 days is a real burden because that once the phone number is given to others, I have to actively notify or change this number in numerous places.

The extra 30-day grace period with a reminder email makes it more reasonable. Thank you.

If you're likely to forget to call the number you can set yourself reminders using a service like Follow Up Then.

if this is part of the business plan then why is there a 30 day limit on its non use? If the business plan is being paid for then it should never expire until the business is canceled!

VOIPo services do not have any activity requirement.

The poster above was referring to HostGator toll-free numbers which are provided by VOIPo. Those do have a requirement of having activity every 30 days. That is a HostGator policy so it applies to the HostGator toll-free numbers only.
