Hi. I need to run the Plone content management system on my sites. Does HostGator support it?
Thanks. |

Hi. I emailed them asking if they can install it, and they said no, unfortunately.
I am going to keep my hostgator account, but open a Plone account at Python-Hosting.Com . -CharlieW |

It's a great content management system. Go to Plone.Org for details.

That's too bad. HostGator seems almost perfect for my needs (and budget).
Oh well, I guess I'll check out python-hosting.com. Thanks for the link.... |

Why dont you use a different content management software? That HG may have?

Would Plone or Zope run on a HG site if you installed it yourself? or are there libraries and requirements that need to be taken care of on the host side? |

The problem with plone is it doesn't just require some modules or libraries but rather it's own daemon if I recall correctly.
It's decent software but with the massive number of alternatives out there that don't require entirely seperate daemons to run I see no need for us to consider offering it. If you wish to run it you would be best off in your own dedicated environment and only our dedicated servers offer that. |

I'm a real sucker for joomla, vanilla (forum only) and e107.
Beyond that I haven't found much that's decent enough to be on my short list
