Thanks, took me a while to set up everything, the wildcard subdomain stuff was confusing

I will try not to, I think the person has stopped spamming now, if not then HG or Google is ignoring it now which is good.

And this wont get me suspended, I asked support first

I followed the previous (long) thread on the suspension due to Goggle group advertising but did not post anything. My personal opinion is that offering free anything, whether forums, blogs, email, etc. will be prone to attract folks that will have little concern over following the rules. It wouldn't surprise me to see someone spam Google groups to advertise this new free blog site. So I would suggest moving very carefully in setting this up.

From another angle I would be concerned about using too many server resources as your sites grow if they are all on a single shared account. I notice that all of the websites in your sig are on the same server. If enough folks decide to create free forums and blogs when they really should be purchasing their own accounts there could well be a problem with your site using too many resources. One real disadvantage of having all the sites on a single account is that if any one domain causes problems all would be suspended.

Yeah, I do have to approve blogs that are hosted there and if it were to use up too many resources then I would mabye be able to move to a VPS because for them to use up that much usage I would be getting quite a bit from AdSense. I agree with your points though.

I'm not sure if anything has changed in cPanel but I know at one time wildcard DNS entries had to be the last entries in the DNS Zone. That means that if you add a subdomain in cPanel it can break the wildcard DNS since it would append it to the end. It's also a good idea to keep a record of anything you have asked support to set up because I've seen cPanel upgrades mess up customized configurations.

I managed to add it by creating a new subdomain with * and directed it the the folder of the main add on domain, the first time I did this it didn't work, I took ages researching and then tried it again and it worked, I don't really know what I did wrong.

Does that mean if I add another subdomain now it will break it all? Because I was planning to add support.plogoblog.com tomorow.

I would try adding the subdomain now and see if everything still works. It may still work if you have things set up using redirects but if it is set up in the httpd.conf file on the server the wildcard entry has to be the last one in the list.

Nope, I didn't have access to the httpd.conf file, I was on the edge of asking HG to do it in httpd.conf but tried the subdomain thing again and it worked.

If it messes up will it be easy for me to remove all the subdomains and then add the wildcard again?

Ok I created the support subdomain and everything still seems to work which is good. Now I have to find out how to add adsense to every blog without editting all the themes.

Thanks, now I need to get down to promoting it, I am mainly going to submit to directories and search engines and use a free £30 ($60) adwords voucher I got.
