Hi,
I'm new to CPanel as I just came from 1and1 and find CPanel rather clunky. I think I prefer lists instead of icons... So my question is what is so wrong with Plesk10 and Linux? Why is it so much cheaper than Cpanel? $10 for a year and then $5 cheaper Thanks! |

I am new to dedicated/vps also but from what I understand and I did little research before, webmasters have problems with plesk when installing scripts such as Joomla, WP, mostly because of permissions problems My guess would be that Plesk is more sensitive to permissions and is perhaps more suitable for advanced users than cPanel is.

Thanks for that answer.
Wondering if that's the last word on this? Anyone from HG want to comment, I'd be interested to hear... |

So it sounds like the option that is harder so support is cheaper. That doesn't make sense...
Anyone? |

I would go with cpanel. The icons may look clunky but you can change the theme so looks like a list. I've never liked Plesk, but that is my opinion. I have never had a problem with cpanel and WHM.

This is a peer to peer support forum. While Gators sometimes come in here and comment, if you want an answer from them directly it's better to start a Live Chat or send an email to sales (at) hostgator (dot) com.

By the way there are other threads regarding this topic. Check the dedicated servers form.

I started out with Plesk, years back, and found it frustrating to use. That was not because it was advanced. It was because I found it to be illogically laid-out and ill-suited to efficient management. I haven't used it in some time, but I hope that it has improved.
cPanel isn't perfect, but it is far better than Plesk ever was. Sometimes, there is a real reason why one item costs more than another. GBH |

I don't know about Plesk but the guys over at cpanel also offer free webinars. That's impressive.
