Default Please Disable suPHP

Hi,

i need to disable suPHP. I have never ending problems with this.

ALL of the scripts i use need permissions like 777, 666 etc. and suPHP doesn't allow this.

Scripts i run:
http://smart-scripts.com/ (needs extra suPHP installer)
http://www.tradeexpert.net/ (works sometimes, is a pain to install)
http://www.jmbsoft.com (no autoinstaller, no autoupdate, have to edit alot of permissions by hand)
http://www.arrowscripts.com/ (is a pain to install, many problems)
http://streamscripts.com/ (no autoupdate)

All these scripts are essential for me.

I know these discussions about security, but i can sleep well with this.

Please disable suPHP, otherwise is see no other way then canceling my account. This is something i don't want to do because i always appreciated this service.

Thanks for all your efforts.

Generally speaking, being a tool for executing PHP scripts with the permissions of their owners, suPHP is an alternative to "everyone" permissions. In other words, with suPHP, you really shouldn't need to set 777 and 666 permissions, not even for PHP scripts that claim to need it on some folders for uploading, caching, etc.

Have you actually tried installing and running any or all of those PHP scripts without setting "everone" permissions?

The forum is for peer support. You should open a ticket with support and ask if they can disable suPHP on a VPS. Most scripts that say they need 777 permissions will work with permissions set to 755. I know with a dedicated server you can set it up as you wish but not sure about a VPS. A ticket to support should answer the question. (I would not use Live Chat for this.)

I opened a ticket, but maybe someone had these problems, too and a solution.

Yes, these scripts run with suPHP and permissions like 755.
But its a pain. See the problems mentioned above.

suPHP pissed me off so many times.
