Default what plan should i choose

hi, i'm currently running a forum on a free hosting service, and i'm thinking buying a paid account. here are just some of question
1.what's the limit of concurrent connections? i'm hoping something around 40 people at least.
2.could i upgrade my accounts even though i already bought the Hatchling plan? i'm a bit confused because it says "paid yearly". since my forum is still on its early stage, and i might need more space and bandwidth after months.
3.i'm thinking buying a domain name, do you sell domain name with any of your packages?

my apologies
sorry i did not search for the answers
i'm working hard finding a good host

You can have 25 connection to the data base at the same time but can have 200(jsut an exemple here, it could be thousands) people on your site without problem. There is a lot of post about the db connection on this forum. Just do a search.

Go to http://support.hostgator.com/index.p...icleid=3&nav=0 and you will have the link to upgrade your account at anytime.

Domain name don't come with hosting packages. You need to buy then seperatly or at the same time that you order a package but you have fees that will come with the new domain name.

Best Regards,

Domains are $15 if you buy through HostGator, there are MANY other domain sellers though.

This only applied for the Hatchling Plan. If you take the baby plan or bigger than the baby, you can pay per month, every 3 month, every 6 month or yearly.

Best Regards,

Many people are running forums on shared. They work fine until you get so busy that you need to upgrade. From shared, you would move to Semi-dedicated, which is around $79.00 a month. Your forum would need to be fairly busy before that happended. Normally, you'll exceed the connection limit and know it is time to move.

There is a reviews section here in the forum, read some of the reviews. There are many bad reviews, HostGator doesn't edit the reviews forum or delete posts. (unless they aren't reviews). You will be able to hear good and bad about them. I'd say they are FAR better than 1&1. I'd also say they are about the best, I'm unaware of another company that is better. I am aware of some that are about equal.

3. Never Pay Yearly
Another thing you'll notice is that most of these incredible scam plans force you to pay for a year up front to get the good pricing. Why would a hosting company care if you pay monthly or yearly? After all if you're happy with them youre going to end up staying much longer than a year. Merchant fees aren't that much so why? It's because most have horrible support, slow servers, or even tons of downtime. If you were paying month to month youre not going to stick around, but if you paid for a year up front what are you going to do? You won't get your money back so you have no choice but to stay with them. ONLY PAY MONTHLY! We have one plan that requires a year payment up front (hatchling) Why? because most hosts advertise a low monthly fee if paid yearly and a much higher price if monthly. We still need to be competitive so we made one plan showing this option. We would however prefer you sign up for a monthly plan. Remember paying yearly to anyone is always a bad idea, but the choice is yours. We would do everything in our power to honor the year but anything can happen to anyone. The state of Texas where our servers are located could be wiped off the face of the earth. If this happened we would most likely be out of business instantly and have no way to honor your payment. All we're saying is no matter how good a company is anything can come up, and you could lose your upfront payment.
hey
what should i do about it....

It's up to you but I have been with hostgator since 2004 for myself and I don't think you can be afraid of hostgator services. If it was so horrible I wouldn't stay here with my dedi server and move to another hosting provider. But is really not the case. If you use your space wisely, they will be no problem.

Don'T test you script on the server, put EasyPHP on your local machine and test your script before going online.

Yearly isn't even a choice with the plan I'm on, but I have no problem paying yearly. My first account at HG was a month-to-month account. Normally, yearly plans have a reduced price.

With HostGator, even the yearly plans have a 30 day money back guarentee, so that gives you 30 days to change your mind.

I agree, if you know nothing about a hosting company, try going month-to-month until you find out how good they are, they pay yearly.

In the case of HostGator, I'd say you are fairly secure going a year at a time.

Talking Re: what plan should i choose

I just want to add to this about the reviews, I have had hosting for my domain for 8 years, and I have been through tons of hosting companies, and I can tell you that this place is by far the best hosting company I have ever encountered. The support alone is worth every penny you will spend. Oh, and out of the 8 years, I have been with hostgator for 2 and half of them. I will NEVER go to another hosting company. So Hostgator, don't EVER close!!!! LOL

You shouldn't let the 25 connections confuse you with the number of concurrent users a site can have. Remember a connection is only used during the page view, and unless you have persistent connections ends when the page is displayed, display on a page shouldn't take a long time, so you are actually talking about 25 pages needing database connections being generated at the same time
