Default physical location of reseller sub-accounts

I have what is probably a stupid question (acutally questions) regarding the physical location of subaccounts that are established under a reseller account.

1. Are all subaccounts that are added to a reseller account located on the same physical server or harddrive? When you have a reseller account, are you just given a block of storage on a hard drive that all of your sites share?

2. What if dedicated ip addresses are requested for new accounts that are added? Would those sites reside in that shared block of a reseller account's storage (if the answer to #1 is yes)?

3. What if old domains that are already located in a reseller account, sharing the ip address, later need a dedicated ip? Would those domains need to move to different physical servers or storage locations?

I'm new to hostgator, and am trying to decide how to setup a number of my own and my clients' sites most effectively. We use lots of symbolic links in our directories to simplify navigation, and wonder if I would need to recreate all of the links everytime a site is moved or upgraded. Thanks for you help.

for hardware wise, its transparent to you, and not to worry, as long the domains(yours or belong to any customer of yours) is pointed to your nameserver. then its working. http://www.hostgator.com/privatenameservers.shtml

I'm wondering, though, if it really is totally transparent. Isn't there is a limit in the number of IPs assigned per server (one per network card)? Normally in a shared environment, that doesn't really matter, because hundreds of domains will share the same IP.

But if I have 10 subaccounts in my reseller account, and all of my clients want dedicated IPs, would they all be able to stay on the same physical server? Or have I got this totally wrong?

I understand that typically the assignement of a dedicated IP to a domain should be transparent, but does that just mean that hostgator copies all of your site files to another server that has space for another IP to be added? If they copy your site files to a new server, would other changes made through ssh, such as symbolic links, be copied as well?

-----------

Sorry -- just read quietFinn's response which was entered while I typed this reply. I guess my concerns about having to move sites were unfounded. I usually try to avoid server management issues and run kicking and screaming when talk of virtual hosting and dns management come up.

If a server does not have enough IPs then new IPs can be added.

I guess there are limits in how many IPs a server can (and I'm not really an expert in this subject), but at least in most cases the number of IPs is not a problem.
