Will all of Hostgator's servers eventyally run phpsuexec?
Could an HG client be assurred that a no phpsuexec server would always be available for their reseller account? |

Apache and PHP run better under PHPSuExec and PHP programming is easier. The environment is safer and most major software now runs under PHPSuExec just fine.

Thanks for the responses to my question.

Search engine friendly urls are vital to any hope of success in obtaining traffic. The programs that I'm familiar with offer sefriendly urls via "put this code in your .htaccess file" and use mod rewrite force type stuff to get the job done. This way is not possible with phpsuexec. I know that HG offers a pre set up version of scripts like WordPress that works in a phpsuexc enviornment and I know that a php.ini file does stuff but I just want the usual "add this to the htaccess file". I think most people would want the standard wordpress. It all just gets too complicated with phpsuexec. I'm sure that phpsuexec is great for improved security etc but for a regular webmaster it causes havoc with the dynamic websites needing mod rewrite conditions in the htaccess file to get desired results in the search enginge ranking. |
