Default phpBB and Swamp Accounts

I'm afraid I might already know the answer to this....

I have a swamp account, the parent domain say is www.foo.com. I placed another domain under it called www.domaintwo.com . Now in my Cpanel, domaintwo.com shows up as a subdomain but it is really its own domain.

Okay, now I want to add a bulletin Board to both www.foo.com and www.domaintwo.com however this is where the snag forms.

I'm only allowed to add phpBB to the "root" level I guess. So, am I totally screwed at this time, I can only have one phpBB per swamp account?

Say it ain't so

No, you can install it in the root, or in a directory, and the root means the root of the DOMAIN.

In my Cpanel control, when trying to add phpBB, it only lets me fill in the subdirectory. So the control panel says:

add phpBB into www.foo.com [enter directory here]. However, I do not have the ability to change the main DOMAIN from foo.com. I assume I can add phpBB subdirectories all day long, however, when people of www.domaintwo.com go to use the bulletin board, their address will read:

www.foo.com/domaintwophpBB instead of www.domaintwo.com/phpBB

Right?

Okay, I think I figured it out, and for the rest of the newbies like me hopefully this helps.

If you try to install phpBB via the CPANEL interface, you will be stuck adding it to the root of your Parent domain. For example, my parent domain is cino-tech.com, however since I run a swamp account, I'm able to add additional domains, so for this example I added pccpoa.com domain.

If I used Cpanel, phpBB would install only to the cino-tech.com domain root folder. So I could add a directory called /pccpoa_phpBB but users that went to www.pccpoa.com and used the forum, their address bar would read www.cino-tech.com/pccpoa_phpBB , not very professional.

Since swamp gives me MySQL databases, what I did was created a subweb under www.pccpoa.com called phpBB. So www.pccpoa.com/phpBB is the full path. I then went to the phpBB main website and downloaded the package directly.

I then went into my CPANEL and created a new MySQL database, I then followed the instructions that came with the phpBB install routines and bammo, I now have my phpBB at www.pccpoa.com/phpBB.

Since this is my first time working with php and Apache servers, I'm sure I'm missing something obvious but all this is working, so until someone points out my shear stupidity on this matter, I'm feeling pretty good about myself right now.

Edit: I forgot to ask...when you say 'using cpanel to install phpBB" do you mean your using Fantastico?

Edit2: Oh, I see what you mean....It's "in" cpanel, not Fantastico...

Edit3: So, why don't you use the one in Fantastico? Your add on domain shows up in fantastico phpBB2 doesn't it, in the drop down list? And you can specify the subdirectory you want? OTOH, it's almost 2:00AM....

This is kinda odd and makes me think I'm not that sure how all this works in a shared account, such a s the ones I'm selling!?
