I've been getting the internal server errors often. Too often. I hope it gets fixed soon or I may be on my way to a new host.

I'm wondering if they are even answering posts in this thread anymore. They still haven't answered mine yet .. and it's a couple days old now.

If you're getting Internal Server Errors (code 500) just contact support. They'll get it fixed up there.

Is Strict Mode turned off for MySQL 5? If not, is there a configuration file to turn it off on a user basis?

You'd probably get a faster answer ticketing support (unless an in-the-know gator comes by this thread). If you do it, can you report back?

Default Please confirm upgrade versions of PHP and MySQL

Dear HostGator

I have looked for this information via search but could not find it.

I am building an environment on my home PC to test/develop my website software. I want it to reflect the same versions of PHP and MySQL that you are upgrading to.

Please could you confirm the actual versions of PHP and MySQL that you will be going to in this round of upgrades.

Many thanks for your time and excellent service.

Cheers
Paul

Paul-- shoot support an email with your domain name, so they can look it up on your actual server just to make sure.

Thanks for the reply slapshotw

I'm on one of the websitewelcome servers (amigo, which is still running 4x) and based on other posts, due to upgraded following the gatorNNN servers.

The reason I asked publicy on this thread was to answer the question for me now, and any other inquiring mind seeking this info in the near future.

Cheers

The phpwebsite support forum had this interesting post.

http://phpwsforums.com/showthread.php?t=5869

And the Fantastico we are able to install version .10.x instead of 1.5.x. So anyone running that may want to consider manually upgrading to 1.5.x as this script can be trouble after the upgrade if using it.

Just a warning.

There are numerous threads in the general announcements forum by GatorPatrick titled PHP5/SQL5 migrations. Lots of servers are already upgraded. Just look and see if your server is on the list as having been done.

It appears that you are on the Chevette reseller server. Currently the migrations are on the shared boxes, and we are making pretty good progress, but it may be a bit longer until your server is migrated. In the mean time, in case you weren't already aware, you can change your PHP handler to v5 on any sites you wish by adding the following to their respective .htaccess files:

AddHandler application/x-httpd-php5 .php

All of our servers run a dual environment php4/php5, just some, such as yours are php4 by default until migration occurs.

my account was suspended last night and only just unsuspended a few minutes ago because "Richard F, Network Security Administrator, ISP Blacklist Administrator/Level 3 Systems Administrator" could not find any indication as to what was causing the high CPU usage due to poor logs! I suspect it is this addhandler that got my account suspended! am i wrong?

btw, is hostgator making any progress on the PHP5 upgrades? is it finished or not started yet? maybe i can remove the .htaccess addhandler line soon?

Question PHP5 Activation?

I just activated PHP 5 with the AddHandler line in .htaccess.

How do I activate MySQL 5?

I'm on fairlane.

Thanks.

You don't have to activate MySQL, it's replaced MySQL 4 and is already going - as long as your server's been upgraded. Check your cpanel to see what version of MySQL you're on.

Named servers hasn't started the upgrade process yet. They will probably begin those some time this week and done alphabetically according to Patrick. They are just finishing or finished the gatorXXX numbered servers.

I don't think there were any done today. Patrick was giving a little heads up time before starting the named servers and the numbered were finished last week. You might have another problem. I'd say either post a link so we can see to find out what we can for you or open a support ticket or talk to live chat support.

well live chat said gator295 was updated and thats what I'm on he said.

I was away for a bit, but from the complaint emails from folks not being able to get it, it happened around the first of the month. Now my error log in cp only show last 300 but it had a whole bunch all the way back to 7/2

errors trying to access the forum php files threw a don't have the file premmsion to excute error, but I never changed file permissions and live chat said they were set right permission wise.

He then brought up the upgrade info.....

I don't have the latest forum version but 3rd gen chat should work on php5 mysql5. VT and BT might need an update but 3rdgen is 5 approved.

But all 3 just serve blank pages.....

I like to stay behind on new versions though till all the security holes are found. Getting hacked sucks. This was out first year we were able to fend off the hackers as every year before hand in march they got us and everyone else. Always cheese deface stuff but still. Still use old netscape for mail, it can barley handle html, let alone run some script kiddy virus cause of crap like that.

not sure on the chat. But phpBB 2 had versions incompatible with php5. I would say do the addhandler for php4 for now while it's still there and add that change to your .htaccess files. Without knowing which phpBB version you have I can't say for sure if you have one that works with php5. If you must stay on phpBB2 (which I'm guessing by the part about not upgrading), then I would suggest getting the latest phpBB2 from phpBB's site. They plugged many holes since making it php5 compat and you not being hacked could just be they overlooked you because you would be vulnerable to very old attacks out there that people who aren't even up to date with that can get.

Without knowing what version, I will point you to this on phpBB's site.
