2 suggestions:
1) Enable PHP5 command line/shell access for SSH users. It is often considerably faster (or only possible) to use a command line script to run database updates. I have been informed that on a shared server, PHP5 access is only accessible through Apache, but the command line is stuck at 4.4.4. Some software, e.g., MediaWiki, will not run on PHP 4, and it has some extremely useful scripts that require PHP5 to run, but that I cannot run because I cannot access /usr/local/php5/bin/php5 except through the web. 2) Enable .htaccess AllowOverride settings so that different subdomains can have different settings. For example, enhanced security breaks some sites, and I might want to turn it off for them, but I'd want it on by default for the rest of the sites. I've seen other users who want to run PHP4 on some add-on domains, but are having problems with that because the master .htaccess file is making changes that apply to add-on domains as well as subdomains. Please allow us to use different .htaccess files in different add-ons/subdomains. Thanks. |

Do you know if the AllowOverride directive is set to All?

You should be able to.

I submitted a ticket - it looks like if you want the AllowOverride All set, you have to submit a ticket as I have not found an option that you can enter in the actual .htaccess file that can do what this setting does.

I'm experiencing this same issue. Its no problem with me just to create a ticket. The support staff is quick and knowledgeable. I don't think its a good idea to have a default config. with AllowOverride.
