Do you know when we will see a PHP upgrade? The new upcoming version of php was annoucned today, which was either version 5.5/6.0. We are still using version 4.3.11 =/
I do realize there are a few drawbacks, but with 5's improved error handling makes it worthwile (at least for me and my sloppy techniques ) among a list of other things.reference: http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/showthread.php?t=290049 |

Yes but, most code doesn't like to work with the new versions. They'd have to upgrade MySQL also. I really don't see the point of upgrading. Unless ofcourse it was somehow more secure. 4.3.11 seems to be the most stable version.

You'll find most hosts still use version 4.x.x of PHP - it is the most stable release (as far as i'm aware). And there can be problems when your move peoples websites from v4 to v5, i.e. some changes in syntax.
The relative advantages would really only help the odd customer, whereas the upgrade could potentially harm many users sites from working correctly.
