Default Php 5

I was intending on installing MediaWiki (I'm not too fond of either TikiWiki or PHP Wiki) for a project of mine, but it turns out that it requires PHP 5. Now I don't know much about PHP, except for the basics, so I'm not sure if this is an upgrade I could perform myself? If not, then I'm suggesting the possibly of HG upgrading from PHP 4.4.4 to the latest version of 5.

Yes you can upgrade your account to use PHP5.x.x by putting the following in a php.ini file in your home directory:

Quote:
AddHandler application/x-httpd-php5 .php
Then go to HG Extras in cPanel (if your are on a shared account)

If your on a reseller account then submit a ticket to support and ask for you php.ini file to be symlinked to every directory

Also you can get an earlier version of MediaWiki that will work with php4.

That Addhandler line actually just goes into your .htaccess file. It will govern all subdirectories beneath it automatically.

Yes, PHP commands and flags etc., but AddHandler and AddType are Apache directives.

Thanks guys; that was more painless then I thought it would be (and it also fixed a problem I was having with another site using Joomla)!

Cheers.

I have a reseller account and want to upgrade to PHP 5.x for all my accounts (I'm running Drupal a lot and they are switching over to all PHP 5 in version 6) Do I add the addhandler line to my main account or do I have to add it to every client account? Thanks in advance for the help.

You must add it to every account.
The settings you have in your main reseller account do not affect the settings of your clients accounts.
