Photo ID

Hi, yesterday I set up a hosting account here and I need to send in a photo
Id to be verified? I am definately not comfortable in sending that in. So unless
there is another way to get verified I will have to go somewhere else,which I really don't want to doe because I know this is an amazing host. Thanks In Advance

If you know HG is an amazing host, why you are you hesitant to send a copy of your photo ID?

This is standard practice at host gator.

The forum is primarily for peer support. If you want a definitive answer to your question on whether there is another way to verify your account you should email sales at hostgator dot com and ask there.

Unfortunately there is a high fraud rate with shared hosting companies and many things can trip the fraud prevention systems in place in the billing systems. I would send the email and perhaps check with Live Chat.

The HG policy to get SSH when I signed up was to send in photo ID and I had no problem doing so.

Verification, whether via phone or ID, is actually a tremendous service to HG customers, because it protects them against those who sign up for "disposable accounts" that do things that get entire servers blacklisted.

I have no problem verifying it via phone I just don't currently have a photo Id in my possession to show. I have entirely good intentions for the hosting.

As we have mentioned, the forum is for peer support. You can call and ask if it is possible to verify the account without a photo ID. I suggested earlier that you could send an email to sales at hostgator dot com and ask there as well.

Well I talked to several people on the live chat and I was finally told I could get verified over the phone. Im about to call HG and if all goes well ill be verified, Thanks Guys!

I have been a HostGator customer on and off for over 6 years and have never been asked to send in a photo ID... Just sayn...
