Permission denied?

I am getting a permission denied erro after chmoding a dir to 777 recursively.

i cant get in now at all. i own it, my group is gid, i tried changing it back to 700. it does work.

i am completely locked out. whats up with this? jailed shell issue?

~/public_html/xtremerc/vanilla]$ chmod --recursive 600 ./conf/
chmod: `./conf/': Permission denied

i cant cd to it or anyhting.

Try 755 instead.

that worked thanks, its one ofthe only ones i didnt try.

but what do i do about vanilla requiring 777 for the config dir? is this possible?

Any of the HG servers will require 755 instead of 777 because of how they're configured, they serve the same purpose and 755 is more secure.
