i just realized that anyone can see my files..cause when you type www.mysite.com/anyfolderinpublichtml/ you can see the contents of the directories in my ftp..is there some way to stop that ? or to just redirect people to the main page when they type www.mysite.com/anything ,wether it's a directory or a bad link with an extra letter ?? thanks saludos

Hi.
A couple of things I do to stop this. 1. put an index.html file in there with nothing in it or a text navigation for the site proper. 2. put an index.html file in there with a refresh metatag sending them right back to the page you would rather they were on. Syntax for that tag is: <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="2;url=http://www.somesite.com/somepage.html"> The number 2 is how many seconds before redirection, set this to 0 if you want, teh second part is the link to send them to) 3. use cpanel, go to the INDEX MANAGER and you can turn off indexing on the directories in question, then they will just see a 404 not found error Note: you can also set up a custom error page, so rather than seeing 404 not found, they get a page taking them back to home page. Good luck

Google for "access control Apache .htaccess"; the above suggestions regarding index controls are all well and good, but any file within public_html can be pulled by anyone with the correct URI unless steps are taken to prevent that.
