I am considering using paypal for a clients website. Has anyone out there used paypal? I am a complete greenie on shopping carts. I have read a couple of their manuals, and ran a sandbox site and it worked ok. What scares me is I will commit to this client and start paypal and run into problems: My concerns are: Do I need to provide any scripting? I am hoping from what I read, that it is as easy as cut & paste html for the add to cart & view. I do want my client to be able to receive her customers purchases by email; Again, I am assuming that this is set up already in the html after the buisness account is set up.
Is it as simple as it sounds or am I just in fantasy land. ![]() Thanks for any input... |

PayPal provides pretty simple to use tools and buttons to cut and paste in your web site. Even for stores with many different products they provide handy tools to manage just about everything. You do get email notifications and PayPal provides a order history page.
In my opinion the biggest concern with PayPal is educating your clients to be extremely careful with all the Phishing emails that circulate around the web. Make sure that they always go to the PayPal site by typing it into the address line in their browser and not by clicking on links in emails. |

If you are accepting credit card payments with Paypal, I'd be a little hesitant as their rates are some of the highest in the industry. I have been reviewing several Internet merchant services for our own use and so far have found 2Checkout & CDGCommerce to have some competitive rates. CDGCommerce having the best rates and support so far.

They're completely different-- with a merchant account at a place like CDG Commerce (or any other merchant), you have a lot more paperwork/credit checks/liability/companies and charges to deal with. With paypal you pay a higher fee but don't have to deal with all that. For most people, especially at small volumes, the second option is very preferable.
