Default "Password Protect Directories" Bug on HTTPS/SSL Pages after PHP5+MySQL5 Upgrades

Hello ,

My shared server was recently upgraded to PHP v5.2.6, MySQL v5.0.45-community, and cPanel v11.18.6-STABLE 24739

Prior to the above upgrades, I was able to access HTTPS/SSL websites/webpages residing in password protected directories. After the said upgrades, any attempt to access such HTTPS/SSL websites/webpages results in a "ERROR 404 - PAGE NOT FOUND" Hostgator warning. If I remove password protection from the websites/webpages, then I'm able to access them via HTTPS.

The websites/webpages that are exhibiting this bug are PHP-based. This has me believing that the problem might be related to the configuration of PHP or cPanel. The last known working setup was PHP v5.2.5 and cPanel v10.x.x, about 5 days ago. I noticed that when accessing a PHP page via HTTPS, the browser is directed to a .cgi index file rather than the required .php file. The .htaccess files, though slightly different than the ones generated by PHP4, don't seem to be out of sorts.

Thanks for any suggestions that you may have!

FYI: You might just wonder why I'm not disabling password protection for these particular websites/pages. Well...it's because I want to limit access to them, and this cPanel function isn't working properly.

Do you have a SSL certificate installed in that domain, or are you using shared SSL?

Ooops! Now that's a detail I should've mentioned!

I'm using a Shared Certificate.

Hmmm...come to think of it, I wonder if that's the problem?!

Anywho, thanks for bringing that up!

Cool Re: "Password Protect Directories" Bug on HTTPS/SSL Pages after PHP5+MySQL5 Upgrades

Wow...I can't explain it, but the problem resolved itself! Kind of reminds me of my car.

Perhaps Hostgator was still configuring the server? Well...thanks to whomever or whatever was working overtime on this issue.

Cheers!
