Default Park Domain on Addon Domain?

Hello all,

Is there any way to Park a Domain on an Addon Domain?

I have a .com and a .co.uk and I would like to have both point to to the same addon domain.

Is this possible?

Absolutely,

In order to park a domain on top of an addon domain, please do the following:

1. Click addon domains
2. Type the domain name you wish to park on top of the addon domain in the field to the right of “New Domain Name:

You will see your current addon domain and user listed under Current Addon Domains

4. Take the username which is located inside of the parentheses to the right of your current addon domain, and input the username in the field to the right of “Username/directory/sub domain Name:

5. Insert a password in the password field.

6. Click Add Domain!

You have now just parked a domain onto of an addon domain. Unfortunately, cPanel has not come out with an alternative fix to this issue as of yet.

GatorBrian,

Thanks for the quick response. I had wondered if that would work, but somewhere else in the documentation for addon domains it had warned that I might corrupt my account by using an existing directory name - so I wanted to be sure before I tried!

Hi,

I've tried before this solution of parking a domain over an add-on. It works.
Still, I've a question.

Is it possible to have a parked domain, but retain browser address bar unchanged?
If I've domain1.com, and park domain2.com over it, I want the client's browser to "remain" at domain2.com but seeing the domain1.com content.
I would bet the only solution, if any is to use .htaccess rewrite_mod...

cheers

That's what parking is. The address bar will see whatever domain they went to.

I am brand new here (one hour) but you should just be able to create two add-on domains via cpanel and then, IF YOU HAVE SSH ACCESS, link the two directories symbolically to each other, example:

cd ~/public_html
mv add_domain_2 old_domain_2
ln -s add_domain_1 add_domain_2

None of the reseller or shared users have access to SSH.

And rightly so, by default. However, did you look at the sales specs:

In any case, I am sure that HG staff could make this simple symbolic link.
