I like the fact that in Parallels Power Panel, you can do a complete container backup, but is there a way to download that backup? It would be nice to have an offsite copy, in case something goes wonky. I couldn't find anything within the file manager. I guess that makes sense--you don't want to keep the container backup within the container itself. Thanks!

That is a great question. I have been wondering the same thing and also if it is possible to automate the backup to run every week.

Well, my guess is the backup is not part of the overall container, and is stored outside of the container itself. After I did the backup, I saw no increase in my disk usage. Also, I am only allowed one backup (which is assuming that Host Gator is regulating it). I guess there really is no need to download a full and complete backup, as I can create a container backup every so often, and Host Gator does weekly backups as well. I just get paranoid. =)

Has anybody found a way to download their container backups yet? I'd really like to hold on to more than one backup on my local hard drives.
Thanks, GBH

It is not possible to do this, however it IS possible to download individual files from a backup by clicking on the backup date and time, and then "Browse backup" at the top of the page.
You can then browse through the file structure of the backup. Best regards, Jamie Welch |
