Positive Packet Loss [resolved]

I want to believe all the great things people say about Hostgator, but like the previous poster ("Pissed Off"), I've had my reseller account for 10 days, and have found my sites down every other evening. In chat the tech has identified either "severe packet loss" or DDOS attacks, and has suggest I e-mail sales@hostgator. When I do it's forwarded to support, with the latest response being "we only had problems on the 6th".

I cannot resell hosting knowing that my customers would experience the kind of problems I've been seeing, therefore I've delayed launching my site offering hosting, and have sent e-mails of apology to my existing clients.

I keep hoping this is an isolated, short-term problem.

Hi,

I found your ticket and it looks like the last reply was from one of our system administrators on February 8. There was a DDoS attack causing problems and now that the attack is done, your server should be fine.

Are you still experiencing problems with your site? If so, let me know and I will ask one of our senior administrators to investigate and get the issues resolved for you.

I'm sorry for any inconveniences. We'll definitely get this resolved.

Douglas,
Thanks for your response. I know both this past Monday as well as the previous Friday (13th) I experienced some transient periods where my sites were unavailable. The past day has been OK.
I will say that tech support has always been available via chat, with waits no more than a couple of minutes. So, thank you for that!

Several days with no problems. Hope is rising that my first week with Hostgator was an unusual situation, and the rave reviews are true.
