We had around 14 minutes of downtime today on a large portion of our servers today as one of our datacenter's border routers experienced a problem with a large Denial of service attack. Services are back online at this time. If you are still seeing problems please let us know at support AT hostgator.com. The official response from our datacenter is as follows :
"At 2:48PM CST one of our border routers in Dallas experienced service troubles due to a denial of service attack directed towards our network. This caused routing protocol troubles and flaps. Servers located in DLLSTX2, DLLSTX4, DLLSTX5, and DLLSTX6 datacenters would have experienced severe packet loss during this period as routes converged multiple times. Servers located in HSTNTX1 or HSTNTX2 may have experienced disruptions across a few peered network paths. Customer-facing Orbit portal was unavailable during this time. All protocols stabilized and the systems returned to normal at 3:02PM."
