Hi Forum.
What I would like (very much) is something that gives me a view at the different services running, (no matter dedicated, shared or reseller) as WHM does, but without me sitting here clicking the "show me this" or the "show me that" buttons in WHM. Maybe an Adon to WHM? Sometimes I sit here just clicking away, away, away. I like to watch the server. I'd like to see 5 minute updates on the Apache log, 5 minute views of the mail ques, 2.5 minute picture of the overall cpu/memory/disk usage, you know, all that good stuff you can watch on WHM. But it would be nice in one place at one time and set-able to do periodic scans of various services and systems so I could just sit and watch the nice lights flashing green (or red sometimes I guess ) Any ideas? Somebody want to get paid to write it then? Cheers from Sunny Samui

On dedicated you could install some kind of free monitoring tool yourself. Like BigBrother or Nagios for instance (but these are kinda heavy).

Thanks Stef, that is all I wanted, just some suggestions from folks who've actually used it, rather than random searches on web to find it and...... whatever.
I shall look into the suggested apps, thanks. |

Hey Serra, agreed, the nagios monitor looks good. Just something I can look at, a lot, with a cup of coffee in mah hand.
Bspiller's example link for HotSaNic is interesting as well, that HotSaNic looks as cool as or more so than nagio even .... ;-) Mmmm, thanksk bspiller! Great, thanks forum folks, now I got me plenty new toys to play 'round with, eh? Cheers

I just found externaltest.com
Check it out. They even have a Yahoo Widget that sits on your desktop doing all manner of server tests every fifteen minutes, sends you email reports. Right now on beta test so accounts are, for now, free of charge. Can go to the site and generate excellent graphs showing performance of many server services, overall an excellent service you should check it out. Cheers.

Sure, no worries.
I just let it run the last few days, I note that xtest sends out neat email reports daily as well, and you can test on several protocols. Pretty neat. cheers
