Hope someone can help. When I setup my mail I am able to receive it fine. However, I am unable to send any mail out. I have "mail.triplesinc.net" in both the pop3 and smtp text fields. I receive the error:
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'mail.thunderbirdchapel.com', Server: 'mail.thunderbirdchapel.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure: No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E I have checked all the areas over and over and they all seem to be entered correctly. Any ideas why this is happening? I have other accounts that use port 25 just fine. |

Sounds like port 25 being blocked.

I thought so at first, but my other email that I use from my ISP works fine. That email uses different SMTP and POP3 addresses though. Could that be the reason?

Depends, by other email do you mean at that ISP or outside of its network? They may just be blocking 25 on things outside of their internal network.
To test that theory set your SMTP port to 26 as HG also runs exim on port 26 to offer a work around. If that does not fix it for you check your firewall if you have one and alternatively talk to the folks at support@hostgator.com HTH Antonio. |

Just wanted to point out that switching to port 26 fixed the problem for me.
Thanks! |

The port 26 tip was helpful to me as well. Thank you, Sonicade.

Rather than something like support@yourdomain.com... Is that right? Or is there a work around for it? |

If you look at the (arrived) email headers you are able to see the servers the emails is coming through.

That is correct only the header information shows where it came from, which isn't much of an improvement because the header normally contains the name of the server, in HG's case, something like desoto.websitewelcom.com. |

Ahh, ok....that's one of those things I haven't had much time to mull over..
![]() So, basically you could dedicate one of your ISP alloted emails to that task...and setup a forwarder for the incoming emails? That sounds right...but then again I never really went to sleep last night!...
