Default Ordering API

I was thinking that Hostgator should have some sort of ordering API for resellers to be able to have a simple automated form for their clients for things such as SSL purchase and install and all other services. Right now I am going to setup to just post the data, but would be nice to have a better option in case things change with the pages.

Have you looked at WHMCS, which is free with your reseller account?

I have looked briefly at it. As a developer, I prefer to do my own applications rather than use something like WHMCS. I will take a look and see if I can get the code for it to put into my own app. Thanks.

It may be worth searching the outer world for WHM/cPanel scripts, too. One might be easier to modify for your needs.

At this point, the best way to do it is to create your own form and after the submit, carefully verifying the data, post the information to HostGator and display a response to your customer yourself depending of the results.

If you are a developper it should not be that difficult, we are doing this ourself for few other features...

P.S. If HostGator really want to be serious about their resellers, they should put someone to create that API soon, before there is too much work to do with more and more addons to do...

Yeah that is what I meant by posting the data. Have my form send data to https://secure.hostgator.com/ip.php. I don't like doing it this way however because when updates on the HG site happen, then things break. Not that API's don't, but at least they are aware that people are doing this and will try not to break it.

Thats bit risky, I think it shuld be manually done. Your customers are not going to request new IP address everyday, in any case.

the main part of the program is encrypted, so you won't be able to grab chunks of it if you're not using the software.

Even if he is using the software, he wouldn't be able to grab chunks of it. The large majority of WHMCS is encrypted by (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) Ioncube, and therefore wouldn't be able to be picked apart by a human.
