Just wanted to know what the general opinion was of the Cocos Islands TLD. (.cc). I know these were once marketed as an alternative to .coms and you are hard pressed to find a good .com because of all of the squatters. It seems that there are still pretty many .cc domains available, and I have seen a few of them on television commercials recently.
When people are choosing a domain, would you recommend that someone choose these domains? - JZ |

I don't know about everyone else, but I've gotten a ton on spam from cc domains, alone with de, etc. I don't think I'd use one myself. biz are pretty cheap and still available in a lot of cases.

I think my only concern with more tlds is that of trying to protect your identity. I dont want some one to think rentinmytown.cc is the same people as rentinmytown.com etc
Whil I only pay 5.99 per domain I still dont want to have to have 35 .whatevers to try and protect my rights. |

to original question: I've never really considered the .cc domain to be particularly important - I'd have thought people will think of .com, .net, .org and hyphenated versions in that order before giving up (unless there's a country specific one like .co.uk for me, in which case that'd come after .com). .cc seems a bit, well, secondary.
