I did not want to have to post here. However, three days and two attempts later to obtain help directly from Support by email, as I was instructed to do by Lea via Live Online Support, I try here.

The problem is that I am getting error messages when I try to install phpadsnew in Fantastico. Nor does phpadsnew install at all. It does screw up the index file in my root directory.

The error message is:

Install phpAdsNew (3/3) 1) File:/home/xxxxxx/public_html/config.inc.php [ERROR! ]
2) File: /home/xxxxxx/public_html/data.sql [ERROR! ]

sh: line 1: /home/xxxxxx/public_html/data.sql: No such file or directory

Lea also attempted to install for me and must have received the same error since she stated that it appeared to be an installer problem from Fantastico. That is when she instructed me to contact Support. Her exact words from the session:

Lea: well I tried to install it, but there seems to be a problem
with the installer from the Fantastico. Please email us at
support@hostgator.com so that we can investigate the problem and fix
it

That I did at 3:31am, Tuesday morning. Three complete business days, a second email later and I have received nothing. No confirmation, no reply, no assistance, nothing. Can someone from Hostgator PLEASE offer some assistance?

That is the problem, I have never received ANYTHING from Support. Nothing. I emailed support@hostgator.com just as Lea instructed and I have never received anything in return.

When you email support you automatically get a ticket number. Please disable your spam filter it sounds like it's blocking anyting sent from us.

What's your email address you sent it from?

What's your email address you sent it from?
I never enabled spam assassin. Nothing from Hostgator is listed in the filters of my email program. As an example, all welcoming messages and messages related to the affiliate program came through with no problem. Messages were sent from cas@cybrosia.com.

About 4 hours ago I sent a third request for support to support@hostgator.com. Again, as previously, I received no support ticket in return, no confirmation of delivery or bot message stating delivery failed. Nothing.

Now, throughout the day yesterday and so far this morning I was able to send and receive numerous emails with no problem with one exception - nothing appears to be getting through to Yahoo addresses.

Additionally, I tried again to install phpadsnew with the same result as before. Thinking it might just be phpadsnew, I tried phpesp. It also failed. I can only assume that the entire Fantastico feature is not available to me.

Now, I do not know what the problem is. There is apparently something very, very wrong with the account since attempts to load phpadsnew and phpesp have failed. Additionally, there seems to be an email problem. I have no filters enabled within our email program and Spam Assassin at the Host Gator account was never enabled.

I would really appreciate some serious effort to get to the bottom of this.

Here is the error message from the attempted phpesp install:

Install phpESP (3/3)

1) File: /home/xxxxxx/public_html/phpesp/admin/phpESP.ini.php [Error ]
2) File: /home/xxxxxx/public_html/phpesp/data.sql [Error ]

The xxxxxx being my account name, of course.

In the ongoing saga, I have tested and checked email today and even Yahoo is going through. I have changed NOTHING. I have altered NOTHING. I have added NOTHING. I have deleted NOTHING. Yet, I have just sent a FOURTH request to support@hostgator.com and, again, received NOTHING back in return.

About 7 hours ago I sent duplicates of my request for assistance on this matter from two other different accounts - a Yahoo account and an AOL account. CCs were sent to my cybrosia.com account. The cybrosia.com account received the CCs. However, neither has returned a support ticket, any type of confirmation or a bot message informing me of failure to deliver from the support@hostgator.com address. I respectfully submit that since this seems to be happening from three different accounts on three different systems, the problem rests somewhere at the Host Gator end.

The problem is not on hostgator end. The problem is on your end.


Anyone here will vouch as soon as they send an email in they get a ticket number in response automatically.


If you have a spam filter that blocks anything we send you you are never going to receive anything from us. What's the email address to one you sent from I'll look up your email and tell you if we received it or not.

I have NO filtering active at all. None whatsoever. Spam Assassin is not active on the server and no filters at this end. I have sent emails from the following addresses and none of them have returned a ticket:

cas@cybrosia.com
casamerica@yahoo.com
cybrosiacom@aol.com

All were sent to support@hostgator.com.

Additionally, I received an emailed copy of my Online Support Chat transcript of 5/25/03. That came to the cas@cybrosia.com address from support@hostgator.com. Now why would that have come through with no problem? I am also apparently receiving orders from advertisers and customers at cas@cybrosia.com with no problem. The spam seems to have no problem getting through.

Do me a favor - just send an email from support@hosdgator.com. Nothing automated. Just a test email addressed from support@hostgator.com. Send it to cas@cybrosia.com. If you wish, you can also CC to casamerica@yahoo.com and cybrosiacom@aol.com.

The frustrating part is that all this is detracting from the original problem of not being able to get phpadsnew and, apparently, any of the other Fantastico package auto-installed.

All of your emails dont happen to say one of the above do they? We didn't receive emails from those addresses accept for the first one from some very old support questions you had. It's possible your using something similiar in them all thats in our filter. Can you paste in everything an email from you would say? First thing to figure out is why we aren't receiving mail from just you.

After thinking on this as I pasted and reread, I am thinking that for some reason filters at your end might be deleting the emails. Otherwise, I would think I would most likely get a bot message telling me of a delivery failure. That is also the only reason I can come up with for none of the emails getting through from 3 different addresses- something setting the filters off. Possible? Then again, I do not see anything that would set the filters off. I am at a complete loss and I am sure you are tired seeing my name.

As for your email there could be something in that long paste thats in one of those filters. I tried skimming through but couldn't find it. You could do trial and error emails to support@hostgator.com till you got a ticket number in which case you would know what was causing it to be blocked.

No joy. Still gettting the same errors. Tried installing its own directory and also in root. Same thing with phpesp.

I have just sent a much abbreviated version previous emails to support@hostgator.com. I immediately received a support ticket: #BIU-76957-683.

My only hope is that support can understand the problem I have been having since I did not include any of my previous chat with Lea or that she also was unable to install. I also hope they do not think I was being so abrupt due to discourtesy.
