Blame it on the blondeness, but folks, this is my first attempt at putting together a website - and completely from scratch...what have I gotten myself into!? (and sorry for any incorrect terms!)
I've got the beginnings of the Home Page, have CuteFTP (thanks Justin!) but can only get it as far as the cgi bin Index page - I've dragged, dropped, and tried to use the mouse over my shoulder all with one leg up in the air and my left eye closed and I'm sure I'm missing something... Any help would be appreciated! My goal is to have something up by Friday when I head out of town for the weekend and want a little bragging rights - thanks again!

Hi Shelly,
blonde eh, don't worry, I know some pretty clever blondes HostGator has some Flash tutorials on using CuteFTP here: http://www.hostgator.com/tutorials.html (in the FTP section). Did you take a look at it? I advise you not to use spaces in the files you put on the webserver (as you did with "home page.htm"). Try to create a simple blonde-proof webpage (sorry  ) like this: [code:1:30d5152760]<html> <head> </head> <body> <h1>This is the first webpage I put online and it works just fine</h1> </body> </html>[/code:1:30d5152760] and upload it. If this works continue with more complex pages and directories. If you can't get CuteFTP to work, you might try the "File Manager" that you can find in your CPanel. In the FileManager go to your public_html directory (click the folder icon next to it) and then click "Upload Files" (left side, almost on top). You get some selection boxes that you can use to browse to the file (locally on your PC) you want to upload. Finally click the Upload button. Then check you're webpage. You should try to use FTP however, it's easier to manage your files and quicker then the FileManager. But if you need to get your pages up by Friday this could help you out. Good luck, Stef. |

Hi shelly.
![]() It is important to note that all files meant to be displayed when accessing a directory must be named index.htm (several other file extensions will also work, but you must use "index" as the filename) If you simply rename "home page.htm" to "index.htm", you will no longer recieve a directory listing, rather you will see the html page you have created. |
