I'm not new to managing my own websites but I am new to reseller accounts. I'm already feeling comfortable with the reseller account but still have more to learn. No problem there. What really doesn't make sense to me is the domain reseller account.

Where can I find more information on what it is, how it works, how it may integrate with my own website? From a newbies point of view that is.

I already registered for a reseller account and received a username and password. When I go to Enom and log in, it doesn't let me set anything up to resell domains as it says I must be a member. Now, where I'm confused is, didn't I become a reseller when I received a username and password?

My intention with my reseller account is not to resell to the public (at this time anyway) but to my business partners only. Previously, I hosted them on my own domain as a subdomain and had them order redirected domain names. I hope, with a reseller account, to instead have them order a domain name and host it as a top level domain name for them on my reseller account.

My question is then, with the Enom Reseller Account, when one registers a domain name, at what point does one receive the DNS information. Is the DNS somehow integrated with my hostgator reseller account or will the person who purchases the domain name, through the Enom Reseller account have to edit the DNS after I put them on my hostgator account?

See, I need more FAQ's for Enom and they didn't have enough for me to understand what it is, how it works and how I integrate it into my hosting services.

Under the MyInfo section on Enom, do I need to change the "organization" information to my own contact information or do I leave it as is?

Under "Default Options", What goes under
Host
Type
Address

We are currently working on putting together a comprehensive FAQ for the eNom system. In the meantime, please email support@hostgator.com with your account info (domain, user, pass) and tell ask them to set you up in the eNom system.

*edit - Nevermind. Seems you've been set up.

For the quickest answers regarding eNom, you should probably submit a support email, as I am still learning the system myself and cannot provide much information. Sorry for any confusion.

I can log into my Enom account but cannot do much of anything else. I get this message when I try to set something up:
"Sorry, you must be an official eNom Reseller to sign-up for [what ever I'm looking at].
If you would like more information on how to become a reseller, please send an email to sales@enom.com. Thank you

From what I've read so far, I'm assuming we've been set up on a "sub-account". Below is what I've found on accessing my sub-account. If I'm heading in the wrong direction on this, please advise. If I'm going in the right direction, then it seems that I need to be clear on whether we were set up with a retail or resellers account. From the message above I continue to get, it feels like I have a retail account. Please advise.

How does the client access their sub-account?
They go to www.enom.com and log into their account with their LOGIN name and their password. They have access to all domain name services and eNom features that you have.

What is the difference between a retail and reseller sub account?
The main difference is how they pay for registrations, and whether or not they have reseller options.

RETAIL
  • * we will bill their credit card on file for every transaction
    * you (the parent account) will pay 3% sales fee and a 95 cent transaction fee for every order
    * they do not have access to create Sub Accounts, RegistryRocket sites, the PDQ, and they cannot download the API sample scripts.
RESELLER
  • * they will refill their account to pay for orders (refill fees are paid by the sub account holder).
    * the parent reseller does not pay any fees
    * each transaction is deducted from their balance
    * they can download the API, setup RegistryRocket links, create a PDQ and create sub accounts
    * sub accounts can use their own merchant services for the API (they cannot use eNom merchant services).
How do I convert a sub-account to a reseller status?
  • * Log into your reseller account at www.enom.com
    * Go to the sub-account menu option
    * Click on the log-in name of the sub-account, make the change.
*Please note - once you change your sub account to a reseller status, you cannot change it back to retail.

It appers to me that after receiving my login for the resller sub-account that the only thing you can do is register doman names at a discount.

I was also wondering what if anything the reseller account through Hostgator does.

Is it supposed to allow you to resell through your website?
