Default off-site server status information?

Hi,

Warning: I'm really new to this bussiness.

I'm searching for a reseller account. And it seems I like the features offered by hostgator.

I've reading almost all the FAQs and some threads in this forums. Maybe I missed it, but I was wondering if there is a status information service via (off-site) e-mail or something, to easilly monitor server uptime.

I believe it is important for resellers to have something to answer such a downtime occurs and customers complains.

Thanks in advance.

hmmm... just a couple of additional questions.

If you offer some kind of uptime guarantee, How it works?

I've seen you don't offer SSH for security reasons. Good. Is it possible to use Secure FTP or something similar? If so, do you have a guide or tutorial on how to setup the FTP client?

Again, thanks in advance.

I have had good luck with www.siteuptime.com. Their service is free though they do have a premium service. They email you when your site goes down and then again when it is back up. You can check your server's stats at any time. They also email you a monthly report.

I haven't had any down time so far with host gator.

Any month in which we fail to meet the 99.9% uptime guarantee and the downtime was not caused by something you did, just email us and we will credit your account. Easy.

I'm sorry, but secure ftp access is not available at this time.

Thanks for your quick answers. :-)

As per several reviews I read about hostgator, I'm sure you already offer a good service.

hmm... sounds good, however, what if one of your reselled account customers complain? How do you know what's going on? Does hostgator have a "server status service"? If so, is it via off-site resources?

Nice. Is it written in the contract or something?

hm... is there any other option to upload securely?

How do you protect/monitor access between shared server neighbours?

Thanks in advance
