Hi Guys
I understand that a 25 process limit per account is more than enough considering that most processes will open/close in a few seconds, but what about IMAP processes? needed for every guy using a Blackberry (this also applies to other cel phones, outlook using imap, etc). As you know every single mail account using IMAP, will open a process that will stay open 24/7, which causes very minimal impact on the server, so the question is, will you ever raise the number of allowed imap processes?? I love Host Gator, but it sucks that you can only have 25 active IMAP accounts in your 'unlimited space/bandwidth' plan, I don't think going to a dedicated server is the solution if you want to have more than 25 imap accounts... Thanks

You need to remember that you are on shared hosting (I assume you don't have a VPS) so 25 processes is extremely fair as far as I'm concerned.
If you need more than 25 processes (e.g. 25 IMAP users) then its definitely time to move onto a VPS or Dedicated Server. |

Furthermore, using IMAP IDLE is the only reason the IMAP processes would hang open on the server. If you disable IMAP IDLE then you should only create a process when connecting to retrieve mail and then it should stop when you disconnect. The one exception I've seen to this is Mac Mail seems to keep the connection open, thereby keeping the process open.
