Unhappy Not Too Impressed

MySQL and Python are installed, but not the Python MySQLdb module......

We can install this on any shared, reseller, or dedicated server. Please just open a ticket indicating the domain you need this so we can address this for you. Thanks.

Interesting.....I did contact support earlier and the reply was to the effect Python modules are not supported.

I guess the moral of the story is to complain here first.

If you'd like to report inaccurate info from support, HG needs ticket numbers so they can follow up. Unlike many companies, my observation is that they consistently do follow up.

And for anyone looking for an alternative moral, I would say if the response to a query doesn't make sense to you, ask again. Sometimes, individuals make mistakes or even simple miscommunications can create problems.

At least, that works well for me...but then again, I try to assume the best about people. It has served me well thusfar.

Given the names involved, it seems probable in this case. Imagine the potential for confusion of a "Quarterpound Big Mac" in the Macdonald's system.

Clarma, did you ask support generically if it could install Python modules or specifically for Python MySQLdb?

Thanks, but I have no desire to get the person in trouble. I even gave them top marks for the reply. Besides, who says they were inaccurate. For what I pay each month and the amount of traffic I generate, the response could be standard company policy.

I guess I'm too trusting, plus I have no desire to nag anybody. To be honest, it was just another one of those small problems you learn to deal with. Twenty minutes after the response, I'd found another hosting company that did have MySQL, Python and the MySQLdb module. No big deal, I moved the one domain and kept the others here. The way I look at, now I have access to two excellent hosting companies.

The only reason I started this thread was because it was so simple for the other company to get me up and running.....and they're not as big as Gator.

And as a bonus, now I can use MySQL and Python with the domains still here at Gator.
