Angry Not happy with Hostgator either

Like the previous thread who was not happy with hostgator, I find myself in the same situation.

I sent out Christmas emails yesterday to my forum members which led to my account being suspended. I did not know about the 200 emails an hour limit. I responded to the ticket that was generated and the account was reinstated last night. Then this morning it was suspended AGAIN! I have sent out no new emails and now my members cannot access my site.

This is not very good service at all is it. A warning email to those who have sent out more than the 200 emails an hour would be more appropriate than just suspending without warning.

I just checked your site and it is not currently suspended. The email limit is mentioned on a link in our Terms of Service: http://www.hostgator.com/mailpolicy.shtml

If you are wanting to send more than the 200 per hour email limit, you can install phplist from fantastico and set a throttle to prevent this in the future:

Yes the site is back up again and I have read the TOS concerning email limit. However, you may want to send an email before suspending an account and cause grief to those who are paying for service, just a thought. Otherwise I have been happy with hostgator for the last six months.

Hi cambus,

Please consider that we try to keep an equal playing field for all customers that are on shared or reseller accounts meaning if your account is going over CPU usage or flooding the mail queue we have to act fast so it will not hinder other customers. In a scenario where someone else on your server is causing high load via mail and it is slowing your site, it is assumed that you would want us to disable their site bc it is hindering yours. We apologize for this and like Wesley said, those seem to be good options. Thanks for choosing us and have a great New year.
