Hello

trying to get a site up and running before actually switching my DNS.

Seems like all is good except I get a "can't write cookies" when I try and add an item to my shopping cart - even when I have cookies accepting everything. Does this have anything to do with not being a "live" site yet?

btw - the site is in Japanese so you will have to take my word for it that
"ブラウザの設定が、「クッキーを受け付ける」ようになっていないためお買い物ができません" (might be garbage if the correct fonts aren't installed) means "cookies need to be enabled".

If you go to this link and hit submit you can see the error (one line of text displays - nothing else).

If you go to this link and hit submit you can see what it is suppose to do (shopping cart looking thing).

To anyone who is brave enough to check it out... thanks in advance.

matt

one more piece of data - If the site is dormant for an extended period of time, I am able to see the shopping cart once, but not a second time (i.e. leave the cart and then return).

You will probably be fine after the DNS changes take effect. As of now, it is attempting to set a cookie with your domain name, yet you are accessing via an IP/~username address, so your browser doesn't know that you are a returning visitor.

You can see if your script allows you to modifyy the cookie name, domain, path etc, and try that, but I'm pretty confident that once the DNS resolves you will be a-ok.

I tried adjusting the path but that didn't seem to work.

I think it will be fine too. I can get thru the whole process error free one time, but when i try to go back it gives the cookie message - so it seems that everything mostly works. Strange but true.

Thanks for your help Justin

Looking forward to using hostgator for a long time.
