Default Newby Question re: eBay

Hiya!

I'm considering switching to HG. I'm currently with Host Department and to say I despise them is an understatement. *sigh* They're up and down more than a yoyo for gosh sakes.

I was reading on here about image hosting and had to ask something. I'm planning on using my site to eventually make it an ecommerce site. I'm lousy at making that so have delayed for far too long. What I do though is put my images on my domain and then input them into my eBay listings. Is this allowed? I don't host images for other people, just myself for my own listings.

I also wanted to know about Frontpage extensions. Does HG still have and support them. I just found out that MS discontinued FP but I still have the program for now.

I have to say that I like the support & service I see on here. I really like the forums and that staff seems to be quick to answer questions. I don't think my usage will be a problem but don't know for sure. My numbers with HD are 925MB of traffic and 738MG of disk usage. I don't know if that helps anything or not. I've been with Easyspace & Host Department and only switched because of the downtime. I thought I was improving when I switched to HD.....um.....NO! LOL

Thanks a lot!!

Yes you can do that

Frontpage extensions would only need to be enabled if you were using the specific functions of frontpage that required it.

I use frontpage 2003 for all my web sites and have not run into any problems.

@ jager98 - Quit posting your hidden images. Go bother some other forum. Your post has been reported.

I reported it too. Why do they do this though? Sorry if that's a dum question. Is it so people who sub to a thread might click on the image link in the email and put crud on their computers or something else?

There are a lot of good humans out there but I still think humans are the worst species on the planet.

It looks as if you now have full forum access. Some of the reasons why they do it are discussed in:

Hidden images: more than annoying

As the unofficial forum archivist, I was suddenly inspired to start a new list and copied bigblock's hidden url to it. We will have a handy reference of Domains Behaving Badly, to see if one has been here before.

Good idea!

Maybe making a forum thread sticky for these url's?

I don't know if we'd want to boost their search results by the association with all HG's traffic--one reason some of them do it. On the other hand, I like the idea of a "Hall of Shame"...kind of like those lists of people who write bad checks that some stores put near cash registers, where everybody can see them.

Hmmm.you're right about the search engine boosting...how about a html page "hall of shame", with a jpg image in it with their domains? I know it can be a hassle having to edit the image when you need to add a domain, but at least that way their domains don't get listed on the engines...just a thought...

Good idea, and it's not too much work with a handy screen capture utility. In fact, it would actually be easier, because it would capture their user name, the url and where it was in the message all at once.

It probably should be in one of the non-public sections of the forum, though.

We'd need to see what the Gators think.

You really have picked up the zeal!
