If DNS is being hosted by the same server that your site is on, then you do it through WHM, under Edit DNS zone.
If you're hosting DNS somewhere else, such as enom or godaddy, then you'd do it there. bh |

You could also do what I, and many others do, and just install it yourself. It's just a nutsmail-skinned squirrelmail which you can get and customize an installation of.

Just got off the phone with HG. Looks like they couldn't get any volume discounts so they're not pursuing getting resellers and dedicated customers this.
But looks like Ill be buying it and installing it myself since it looks more user friendly than all the other email apps. Will let you know how it goes. Thanks all, Josh

I've had it installed for my clients to use for months. They seem to really like it, though it's not without a few bugs.

Nice!.. any chance of putting it behind an SSL .. even if the cert doesn't quite match? That would be great!

All sites have a shared SSL.

https://webmail.hostgator.com returns an error.. "cannot display page" in IE 7.
(It gives errors in other browsers too, indicating that it doesn't look like it's available via SSL.... just used IE as an example) Last edited by StarDal; 03-12-2007 at 03:56 PM. |

One SUGGESTION: Please allow for a secure login at an address such as: https://webmail.hostgator.com/ Or is a secure log in possible through some other address? |

But if I do get around installing my own webmail client, I'd like to give the open source edition of Zimbra a try. Has anyone in this forum had any success installing Zimbra? Last edited by Rotag; 03-29-2007 at 05:28 PM. |

You can access secure webmail like this:
https://www.domain.com:2096/ And yes we have discuessed Zimbra before, and last we chatted it was not possible without some heavy modifcations to cPanel. |

I am simply suggesting that access to the new webmail system should also be available at https://webmail.hostgator.com/ (or at an equivalent secure address). Quote:

So what I have been picking up from here is that the new e-mail interface WILL NOT be offered to resellers for their webmail. Instead what we should be looking forward to is the new version of Roundcube...

That's incorrect. Resellers can use the new webmail interface right now at webmail.hostgator.com. It is branded "hostgator" though, so if you don't want your customers to know where you buy from, you're better off installing your own system (which I think is a MUCH better idea for a number of reasons anyway).

But how can we do that without the definitive Serra's "So you want to offer your clients customized webmail" guide

Maybe I should write one. I've recommended people install their own webmail so many times in this forum AND on this thread that it's getting hard to count. It's just such a better idea for SO MANY reasons.

That would be great--Serra has not TMed the phrase "So...you want". Or you could call it Slapshot's Imapnot (sorry).

All it is is nutsmail. You can buy that for $30 (or do free squirrelmail which works as well but doesn't look as good), and brand it yourself. Squirrelmail is a really nicely built system and the nutsmail themes work well on it.

I wouldn't start screwing around the the cPanel install of roundcube, trying to brand it. Just install roundcube yourself. It's 100% free, super easy to install, and you can brand it however you want without locking yourself into cPanel (and, it'll be port 80 so users won't have trouble accessing it).
