To the OP, or anyone reading:
Which email address do you use for the interface at webmail.hostgator? I tried my site account, billing email, forum account, none worked. I'm getting Invalid Password or User. Is this just a glitch in webmail, or a Support Ticket in the making? ![]() Thanks. |

Use any email address you have setup on any of your domains... not a billing or support email (unless its a domain hosted by you)

Which he/she shouldn't do because then the OP wont recieve emails if suspended.

Opps, sorry, should have stated I am the site owner.
I tried several combinations of existing email accounts on my domain. None of them worked. ![]() cPanel webmail access works fine. Am I doing something wrong? TIA. |

I figured it out. Bit of a twist, but I think it's there for security.
It seems that an account's *default* email address can't be used in that interface. I tried both forms of my account name. xxxxx and xxxxx@mydomainname.biz and both were rejected. Then I tried a couple new email accounts I created earlier today and they all worked fine using the form: name@domain.biz No idea why they some didn't work yesterday, as today they do. Owell. Not a big deal to me that I cant use the default email account in that interface. If I can get to the web for webmail, I can get to Cpanel and in there you CAN get use the default email. Problem solved. |

Any chance this webmail interface will be available in SSL?
For secure reading of mail. Don |

HG indicated when they released there were no intentions to do this.

Try posting it in the suggestion forum anyways -- perhaps they'll have a change of heart.

Oh very pretty.
Is there a possibility to have this accessible from webmail.mydomain.com? Or do I need to keep using webmail.hostgator.com? |

Many resellers install it themselves, which will let all their clients use it. You can get the program (squirrelmail) for free here:
http://squirrelmail.org/ Or get the prettier, paid version for about $30 here: www.nutsmail.com You can add your own logo to it and really customize it for your clients.

Hi, thanks for the post. Yeah, I did look at it (and even d/l'd the mail app). It's a bit more involved than I'd have preferred to be involved in (can't say as I am totally following the install instructions). Just noting it would be nice if it was auto-installed/setup and available directly from the HG servers.
Thanks again for the quick reply! Perhaps I'll look a bit more into it. |

SquirrelMail is available from the HG servers (although nutzmail, the spiffy version, is not). http://www.yourdomain.com/webmail Once logged in, click SquirrelMail.

You definitely should. You will have a much better experience configuring your own squirrelmail than relying on the cPanel one at /webmail, I believe. Once you get through the instructions you'll have no problem installing anything like it in the future. Remember that if something calls for 777 permissions, you'll really want to use 755.
The best thing about having your own install is that you can brand it and customize it as much as you want. There are hundreds of squirrelmail plugins--you'd surely find some you'd like to offer your clients.

Ok so is there any possible way for a user without access to cPanel to set up a new email address? As it is now, I have to set up all of the email addresses for my clients, give them passwords, yadda yadda. I host a few different domains but i don't have a shared account. Any ideas?

Reselling with the shared web hosting is against the TOS. You can only do this with a reseller account. With the account you can then give cpanel access to each of your clients.

It's already installed and ready for you to use. Just login to your webmail and you have the choice of Horde, SquirrelMail or Roundcube.
Many here use roundcube.
