We currently have an all-new Webmail System available for our Shared Hosting customers. This new system can be found at:

http://webmail.hostgator.com/

Listed below are a few screenshots of the new system.

This system is much quicker and easier to use than any of the Webmail Systems incudled in cPanel so please use it at anytime and enjoy!

*Note: This Webmail System will also be available for Dedicated and Reseller customers very shortly. We will update this thread when it's available.

looks great !! Can i make my users also use this? It is of great use as they will not get access in my cpanel .

If each user could get his own Email login like this instead of going to hostgator first then login , it will be great.

Question Re: NEW Webmail System!

Looks great - almost like HiveMail (unless this is a newer version of HiveMail that I havent seen or something :P )

Don't suppose you will implement this into your reseller accounts/servers somewhere along the line?

Really like the look of it and the speed. Can't wait for the reseller version, especially if it is skinable?

How does it handle (if at all) the SPAM option? That is one + with Horde?

This will be a huge benefit to resellers. Non-technical users have a very hard time getting comfortable with Horde, Squirrel Mail-type webmail clients.

I can't wait.

Great job Host Gator.

Looks great good job, cant wait until it is for use with resellers.

How about going one step further and making it available at webmail.mysite.com, so every new account created has the function already in use for that site? That way my customers dont have to go to a hostgator subdomain address, and it looks like it is running from their own website??

Thanks for the new webmail portal! Looks great, but I'm having trouble accessing my webmail like I do through CPanel.

My main account login is not a "full" email address. I'm able to use it through CPanel's portals to access - on one screen - the webmail for all of my sub/add-on domains, as well as my TLD, but haven't been able to do the same through the new portal. I think I've tried all possible user/pwd combinations, but only get the error screen. The "full" email addresses I've created work just fine.

Am I doing something wrong? Any suggestions?

Although I haven't tried the fix mentioned in This Thread, I doubt that it relates to my above quoted issue, because I receive the same response through firewalled computers, as I do through those without.

Again, any suggestions?

This has nothing to do with "account login", if you have a domain YourDomain.com and you have created an email address like me@YourDomain.com, with a password "mypassword", then you login to the new webmail using username: me@YourDomain.com, and password: mypassword

That doesn't address the issue at hand. The issue, as explained by MandoGator, is that when we signed up for our HG acct, we got a default e-mail address: our account name @ our domain. If we use any of the webmail systems through CPanel, we see any mail that is there, in addition to the other e-mail addresses we have created on our domain. This is not true of the new system. E-mail addresses we have created can be used as logins, but our account name @ our domain cannot. This is problematic for those of us who use that as our "catchall," since any unrouted mail directed there cannot be accessed with the new system (unless MandoGator and I are doing something wrong).

MandoGator, I don't know if your concern is about the catchall thing I mentioned, but a workaround for that is to make one of the e-mail addresses you created your catchall, instead of the main account.

Any other suggestions, or an explanation, would be appreciated.

Thanks JustG,

You explained the problem perfectly, although I'm not really concerned with the unrouted mail, I just want to be able to access ALL email for my account on one screen, with one login, like I can through CPanel. The way it is now, I need to check each one separately, or create a new address and reconfigure the existing ones to forward there, which is time-consuming and inefficient.

HostGator, can you please tell us:
  1. If we are currently able to access our default email through the new portal?
    • If so, how?
  2. If we are not currently able to access our default email through the new portal, will we ever be able to?
    • If so, when?
Again, I appreciate HostGator making this available and I really want to use it, but without being able to access ALL email for my account on one screen with one login, it seems like more work than it's worth to use it as is, or to reconfigure everything on my end to make that possible. Am I missing something?

Thanks again, everyone!

Ok I understand your problem now... but I do not understand why you must have many mail accounts

I have only one real accont, and then several others that are forwarded (or actually they ARE forwards) to that account.
That way I need to check only one account to see all my mails

Hi quietFinn, et al,

Well, it's a bit complicated. My TLD is not yet developed (just an 'Under Construction' page, no email addresses), because I mainly needed webhosting for my groups, which are each set up as add-ons. There are individual and group email addresses, and although not all of them are my own personal addresses, I am ultimately responsible for them, so I need to be able to access them quickly and efficiently, along with all of my own. Many of them already forward elsewhere and it doesn't make sense to create an unnecessary email address and extra, unnecessary forwards for each email address - simply because the login parameters of the new portal aren't configured to accept my default address, like those in CPanel are. Besides, if all email is forwarded to one address, it will not be conveniently organized by domain and address, like it is through CPanel's portals. Although I may be able to set up forwards and folders in webmail to acheive this end, it is messy, time-consuming and inefficient.

It would also be nice to know that all addresses I create in the future will automatically show up, like they do through CPanel, instead of having to configure them each to forward to an email address that I shouldn't need in the first place - and then have to configure new folders in webmail for each one, as well.

Please understand, I'm not complaining and I apologize for repeating myself, but I want to be as clear as possible. The new portal looks like a great improvement and I'd really like to be able to use it the same way I do those in CPanel. I'm not a total novice, but I'm not a total expert, either. I'm just trying to determine:
  1. if I'm doing something wrong,
    • if so, what
    • and if not,
  2. can/will HostGator be doing something to get the new portal to accept our default address/pwd for login?
    • If so - please say so - and, if possible, tell us when
    • If not - please say so - I expect we would all be happy to move on to more pressing matters - HostGator included
Again, I appreciate HostGator for including this new portal, but unless I'm overlooking something, it's not really 'available for my use', unless I can log into it using my default address.

I look forward to resolution of this this issue.

Thanks again, gang!

The problem is, every server can use this email system. Now, if you had the username "BOB" on your server. Then most likely 20 other servers also have the username "BOB" so there would be no way to tell which account was actually yours. This is why you would not be able to login with your default address. The reason it works for email addresses is because the actual username is, "BOB@YOURSITE.COM" Which makes it stand out from all other usernames. Hope that helps to explain it.. and as always you can still use your www.yourdomain.com/webmail/ to check your mail!

I was able to check individual accounts, but how do you check the master account and view each email account like before using horde?

I tried <user>@<domain> and the main account password but that would not work.

Thanks!
