Hi I have a WP site hosted by HG at www.autofansonline.com/classifieds I want to remove it from that sub to its own domain name, so I am considering purchasing another domain name and hosting. So I would like to know if I will get a tech to move the site from /classifieds to the new domain name for me. Will it cost me to switch or do I have to experiment on my own?

Perhaps the simplest solution I can think of, which would be fairly seamless, would be to simply leave your installation where it is and go to your domain registrar's control panel and redirect your new domain to your site's existing address.

That way, your existing visitors will be able to continue using the same URL they've already been using to get to your site, while you can direct new visitors to the new domain - which will take them to the exact same location.

However, if you're insistent on migrating your site to the new domain, I'm sure that HG support will be able to help you get it done in pretty short order, giving you the precise steps you need to take. (There are probably some things they'll have to do on their end as well.)

Hope this makes sense to you.

The shared advice is indeed very helpful on my part because i have a wordpress account. It will surely guide me on what to do. Thank you the information. I really find this forum a good part of hostgator's customer support service.
