Positive This new reseller is very pleased

The transition from my old hosting company to HG has not been without issue, but there are always issues, and Ive been very impressed with the support Ive received thus far.

The only 3 things so far that were mildly disappointing:

1) The FTP transfer service I found to be pretty useless. I submitted the ticket on a Friday afternoon to move 20 of my sites, and had them all done myself, before they replied later the next week.

2) The WHMAutopilot user manual leaves a lot to be desired. I was using HSphere's billing system previously, and AP is very different. It seems to lack many features of HSphere (in fairness, it is easier to tweak plans on the fly). At the autopilot website, it seems the newer version (3.x) has the features I want, but the one that comes with the HG account is 2.x and most of the support at their site is written for the 3.x. Lots of great info on installation, but not enough on its use.

3) The concept of overselling. I didnt understand previously that overselling was bad and why, and shopping for plans here at HG, it wasnt made clear to me that when you allocate space and bandwidth to an account, it is no longer available for anyone else. My old hosting plan billed me based on aggregate use, regardless of what was allocated. That being said, I agree with HGs position on overselling, now that I understand it, but I wish I would have known that before I told all my clients they would get the same plans at the same price after the migration.

Now, for the good news.

1) The customer service here is simply amazing. I still can't get over how quickly you get help. At my old hosting company, getting service on a weekend just didnt happen. Im sure I was a pain in the butt during the migration last week, getting this and that tweaked, but they were always there and always polite, and even if they didnt know the answer, they were quick to put me in touch with someone who did.

2) Let me re-emphasize #1. The HG customer service just plain rocks.

3) Performance. I made the change with the hopes of having the same performance I had before with just better customer service/support during outtages and problems. To my delight, my sites, especially database driven sites like phpBBs and Zencarts are light years faster than the old servers. Im not talking slightly faster, its amazingly faster, especially since we were used to the old servers for so many years.

At any rate, Im really glad I made the change. Changing hosting companies is such a leap of faith for a reseller. The pleasure of HG is definitely outweighing the pain of the move.
