We're very happy to announce our new Reboot Triage department. If you're a semi-dedicated/dedicated server client you can now go to http://www.hostgator.com/reboot.php or https://secure.hostgator.com/reboot.php to have your dedicated server rebooted.
All reboot requests will be submitted to the datacenter within 15 minutes! Please note that you can also email reboots@hostgator.com directly but be sure to include the following information: Server IP or Hostname* Root Password* and any Special Instructions that you may have Thank you! |

Hi Forum.
What would the difference be between (1) WHM Forceful Server Reboot, (2) WHM Graceful Server Reboot and finally (3) getting HG to reboot the server for me? There must be some difference, yes? Otherwise why have 3 methods? Am I brainless, or is it just a bad day? Cheers Folks! |

Hi Folks.
Thanks for the follow up there regarding reboot methods. I have rebooted a few times from whm now, had too, something "got stuck". Had to restart ftp quite a few times at first too. Happy Thai New Year to you all!

Hi,
I have a dedi server with you guys. I noticed this morning the server wasn't responding, and sent through a reboot request, which was done. Very nice! But what would have happened if I didn't look to see if it was down? I could have waited a while...a few days even? It would be great if you had some kind of FREE monitoring service which customers could sign up for which continually pinged for: http, email, ftp, and if it didn't get a response to automatically send a request to have the server rebooted. Jut my 2 cents. Ronnie |

How can a semi-dedicated client choose to reboot their service? Surely there are other customers on the same server?

I think it's that some folks do not have the courage to click the reboot icon in there WHM, or even to restart a service

You use the "reboot request" only when the server is not responding at all, or is extremely slow, so that it's not possible to reboot it from WHM or SSH.

I've reported all three of this spammer's posts. Let's see how long it takes for the posts and the poster to disappear. I'm not holding my breath....
