New Gator / Great Experience

HostGator has been my home for only a few weeks. I wanted to make this entry as to help someone who may be undecided. For me, it was time to move from my last host. They were bought by another company and it was obvious it was not going to be a "good fit". I had to move fast and my web site couldn't be down.

There are a couple of web sites that discuss "hosting" choices. Eventually, I narrowed it down to five. One thing that impressed me was reading the posts about HostGator on these "third party" web sites. HostGator would respond to the comments. If it was a problem, they would make it right.

Three things were important to me in a new host. I wanted to be able to open an account without having to buy the domain from HostGator because I wanted third part control over the domain DNS. I wanted to be able to move my site from CPanel to CPanel for free. I also wanted an active forum community. Most times if bad problems arise and it is affecting many sites you can read about it there first.

Narrowing to three choices I e-mailed the same question about moving the site to read the response and see how long it took to answer. HostGator answered within the hour.

The same thing happened when I decided to open my account. Flawless. I got an initial response very quickly. Next, I put in a ticket to have the site moved. Perfect! Everything worked. Period. The new home was up and running.

With my web hosts I tend to do my home work and am pretty loyal. I was with my old host three years and stayed a year too long waiting for them to work things out. What I really want is for my site to be up and running and to not even have to think about my web host. <g> I am sure that is HostGator's goal too!

I can't speak for others, but for me, this has been a perfect move. I haven't regretted my decision for a minute.
