Here's something to consider.......

If every person in the world was given a million dollar tomorrow the world would spiral out of control causing insane poverty and depression. Just because you are giving that doesn't necessarily mean you are helping. In some situations the best way to help is by doing very little or nothing at all.

Life is about choices and the odds that come with them. If you are going to donate please donate to where the odds of someone being helped is greatest.

I had a friend whose brother was a recovering drug addict. The brother asked for a loan because he needed the money to "get back in school and get his life back on track."

I told this friend if you help him like he's asking you are really hurting him even more. He didn't take my advice and loaned a few thousand dollars. All of the money was spent on coke and the little bit of his life he had left was destroyed. My advice was to pay for his schooling, buy him food, pay for the nessessties that he needed to get back on track.

The odds of the money given to a homeless person on the side of the road helping are far less then giving them food or clothing. If everyone gave them what they needed instead of money I guarantee there would be a HUGE decrease in bums begging for $$.

I'm all about helping the homeless, but I'm sick of people doing more damage then good. I repeat....

Give them food and clothing do not give them cash.

Everything I write is about bums asking for money not homeless people that choose to try and work a real job. The whole blog post was.

Give a man a fish -- he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish -- he'll eat for a lifetime.

Teach a man to fish and he'll still need money to buy a net, and to keep it in good working order.

Someone please give me a fish. I'd like to take it and slap the living chit out of some of the bleeding heart overly politically correct gonads who derailed this thread. It doesn't matter what you do, what you say, or how you do it. If I walk down the hall and take a dump right now, someone will be offended and cry foul and accuse me of starving some homeless person.

Get a clue. HG didn't hurt anyone, do anything wrong, or cause any problems. If anything it was well thought out giving the money back to people who need it. I lived in Houston for 15 years and there's an alcoholic and drug addict on every busy corner. These aren't innocent homeless people, most of them are too lazy or too high to get a job. You know what? Tough chit. Life's a *****, then you divorce one.

Jeeeeze, you guys need to lighten up some. Go have a drink or twenty, then do some drugs. Sounds like y'all could use a dose.

No I can't, and yes I do. Ask a stupid question and you'll get a stupid answer.

In what way did your retort help?

Why not do a non-harmful and legal experiment like the one the planet did on their blog with the 1Tb of data?
