network issues

The planet seems to be having some network issues affecting some parts of the world. The hg office as well of my home is not affected, but many people throughout the country are. this is what the planet posted on their web site............

AboveNet will be performing emergency maintenance in their network on 1/10/06 at 12:00am CST. This should only result in minor latency jitter and loss for sites within AboveNet as they perform their maintenance which will last for 6 hours.
