Network Issue 10/21/2009

We are currently experiencing network issues at The Planet, we currently do not have any information as to the nature of the network issue. We are working with The planet to find the cause of the issue and will update this forum post when we have more information. We are experiencing a larger than normal call volume and are trying to handle them as they come in.

At this time, the outage is affecting some, but not all customers going through a tier 1 provider. The NOC is aware and are currently investigating to find a solution. I will update this thread as I retrieve more information. Thank you all.

Currently all my sites are down. I hope this gets fixed fast. I just started a site promotion a few days ago, this is a very bad time for my primary site to be down.

Would this be the same problem with email accounts getting "connection refused by server" ? I can get to all my sites on my reseller account fine. Except my base account is hit and miss. But all email is getting the above error on all sites.

Our sites can be accessed off of comcast connections, but not ATT so far..

Oddly enough, my domain appears to come up fine (bobs-world.net) but, the main hostgator.com website is very slow to completely unresponsive. I'm including some traceroutes. I use RoadRunner..

I am having a wide range of issues as well. They are inconsistent but they seem to be affecting everything intermittently. I even have issues with the hostgator and theplanet sites in some occasions.

Any update on this issue will be greatly appreciated.

Speed is ok but connection times out frequently enough. I contacted ThePlanet and they say they still have problems, although they have announced that is everything is back in normal nine hours ago http://twitter.com/ThePlanet

We are seeing multiple reports of routing issues through a specific greek backbone provider. If you are having issues please contact our support team with traceroutes. We are working with the planet to try and address the issue, however if the issue is outside their network, there is not a lot The Planet can do.

It doesn't seem to be localized to a single provider as I have had reports from a couple of my clients on 3 separate networks.

Mwhym, we saw a single backbone when this started. We are seeing packet loss from multiple providers now and are working with Senior Network Engineers at the Planet to get this corrected.
