Our current host is absolutely horrid...and I cannot stress the word 'horrid' enough. We are a group of guys who happen to game, so we run a very small site to track game nights, general BS about the day, etc. It is a very small site. The problem we have at our current host is this - click page...wait....wait...wait...wait...you're looking at two minutes plus to load a page. The response from their support is 'sorry, that's the way it goes' (not joking, actual email response). It is literally unuseable...we pay for something useable...they don't care.
We have interest in Host Gator, but are curious if the shared environment here will give us similar issues? We run a 'nuke' variant that requires PHP+MySQL, which I think is the issue where we're at now...they didn't do a good job of proper set-up of SQL within their shared environment.
I am looking for feedback around the shared system here. I know we're a small site, and in the grand scheme the $7+ a month isn't a lot...but my theory is - if you're paying for something...it should work properly.
